This chapter elaborates on food chain management issues and food chain management systems. Section 6.1 provides information and communication systems in food chains. In Section 6.2, traceability in food chains will be discussed. Both sections start with definitions and background information, followed by several case examples. Section 6.3 addresses innovation management in agro-food networks and discusses success factors for food chain innovation. Section 6.4 deals with the topical issue of cold chain management with a number of illustrative examples. Section 6.5 concludes by discussing environmental management systems in food chains.
